Parvovirus information.Important Notice

We have been made aware of cases of parvovirus in the local area, including Holywell, Flint and Mostyn.

We do not want to worry anyone or raise an alarm this is purely not to escalate the situation and as a precautionary measure.

A litter of puppies recently came into our rescue from the Mostyn area and have since become unwell. We have carried out tests for several viruses and are currently awaiting the results. We have completely isolated the puppies and carrying out barrier nursing to ensure no further dogs become poorly.

As a precaution, we have made the decision to close the rescue for the next week from Saturday 5th September. This is to protect the animals in our care and reduce the risk of any potential infection spreading.

We would also like to remind all dog owners to please make sure your dogs are vaccinated and that their vaccinations are up to date. If you are unsure, please speak to your vet for advice.

Please do not visit the rescue while we are closed, the cafe will be closed and unfortunately our volunteers will not be able to visit for the next week.

The health and welfare of our animals is our priority, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding and support. We will provide an update when we have more information.

Maes Gwyn Boarding Kennels will remain open as normal as all dogs coming into boarding must be fully vaccinated and a very strict barrier measures are being adopted, if you have any concerns please contact the boarding kennels on 01745 560361.

Pre booked veterinary appointments will continue as normal and our veterinary team will be in touch with further information.
